Embracing Growth and Authenticity: My Journey at the "Finding Your Inner Leader" Academy

Written by Josephine Rios, published on October 24, 2023

Introduction:

Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the "Finding Your Inner Leader" two-day Academy hosted by 911der Women. Over those two days, I had the pleasure of meeting some truly amazing women who inspired me in countless ways. I shared these days and met with various departments like St. Cloud, Seminole County, Hernando County, FHP, and Cobb County. The speakers shared their accomplished journeys and personal stories, leaving a lasting impact on me. Reflecting on my experience, I was reminded of the importance of embracing change, facing fears, and living authentically without apology. Prior to attending, I had initiated my own LLC, Latinas of 911, aimed at empowering and encouraging the Hispanic female 911 community. Attending this training solidified my views of providing support, resources, and a platform for growth to these remarkable women. Through this initiative, I hope to foster a community where Latinas in the 911 field can connect, share their stories, and inspire one another to reach new heights.

A Tapestry of Stories:

What struck me most about the speakers was the diversity of their backgrounds and roles within our 911 community. These women were not only leaders in their professional lives but also daughters, wives, and mothers. Each had faced unique challenges and adversities, but despite that, they stood before us with unwavering determination and grace. Their stories resonated with me, serving as a powerful reminder that our paths in life are not always linear. It is okay to change directions, explore new opportunities, and continuously evolve as individuals.

Confronting Fear:

During the Academy, I realized that fear had been holding me back from reaching my full potential. I had always been afraid of public speaking, meeting new people, and the fear of being judged. However, being surrounded by such inspiring women and witnessing their resilience, I felt compelled to step out of my comfort zone. I understood that growth and self-discovery lie just beyond the boundaries of fear. So, I made a commitment to myself to take small steps each day toward conquering my fears and embracing new experiences. I have participated in 2 podcasts to share my story, which gave me the confidence to submit my papers to "The Dare To Be Great Conference." I'm thrilled to announce that I have been invited to speak at the upcoming "Dare To Be Great" conference.

As a Speaker, I will have the opportunity to share my journey, the importance of empowering Hispanic women in the 9-1-1 community, and the impact of embracing personal growth and authenticity. This invitation is not only a testament to my own growth but also of the valuable insights I gained from the Academy.

The Power of Vulnerability:

Attending the Academy reminded me of the importance of vulnerability. The speakers shared their stories with honesty and authenticity, allowing us to connect with them on a deeper level. They taught me that by embracing vulnerability, we can foster genuine connections and inspire others. It is through vulnerability that we find the courage to be our authentic selves and encourage others to do the same.

Never Stop Growing:

I left the "Finding Your Inner Leader" Academy with a renewed sense of purpose and a commitment to lifelong learning. I realized that growth is not confined to a specific event or course but is a continuous journey. I vowed to keep reaching out, attending webinars and conferences, and seeking opportunities that push me beyond my comfort zone. By doing so, I open doors to new possibilities and allow myself to flourish in ways I never thought possible.

Conclusion:

Participating in the "Finding Your Inner Leader" Academy was a transformative experience for me. I met incredible women who taught me the value of embracing change, confronting fear, and living authentically. Their stories resonated deeply, reminding me that it's never too late to change paths and pursue our dreams. By facing our fears, one small step at a time, we can unlock our true potential and discover a world of opportunities. So, I encourage you to take risks, attend conferences, and never let fear hold you back. You never know where these experiences may lead you on your journey of personal and professional growth.
